Joanne Rowling, best known as J.K. Rowling, was born on July 31, 1965, in Chipping Sodbury, near Bristol, England. She adopted her pen name, J.K., incorporating her grandmother's name, Kathleen, for the latter initial (Rowling does not have a middle name). A graduate of Exeter University, Rowling moved to Portugal in 1990 to teach English. There, she met and married the Portuguese journalist Jorge Arantes. The couple's daughter, Jessica, was born in 1993. After her marriage ended in divorce, Rowling moved to Edinburgh with her daughter to live near her younger sister Dianne.

On December 26, 2001, J.K. Rowling married anesthetist Dr. Neil Murray at the couple's home in Scotland. They have two children together, David (b.2003) and Mackenzie (b. 2005).

Meryl Streep Born on June 22, 1949, in Summit, New Jersey. Meryl Streep is considered one of the greatest actresses working today. A graduate of Vassar College and Yale Drama School, she is equally adept at performing on stage or in front of the cameras. Streep began her career on the New York stage in the late 1960s and appeared in several Broadway productions. Streep lived with actor John Cazale for three years until his death in March 1978. Streep married sculptor Don Gummer on September 30, 1978. They have four children: Henry Wolfe Gummer, Mary Willa Gummer, Grace Jane Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson Gummer.

She holds the record for the most Oscar nominations of any actor, having been nominated 17 times since her first nomination in 1979 for her performance in The Deer Hunter- five more than both Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson, who are tied in second place. In 1983, Yale University, from which Streep graduated in 1975, awarded her an honorary degree, a Doctorate of Fine Arts. The first university to award her an honorary degree was Dartmouth College, where she spent time as a transfer student in 1970, in 1981.

Undoubtedly, Joannes greatest achievement is the Harry Potter fantasy series. This brought her a lot of fame and money. In 2004, Forbes named Rowling as the first person to become a U.S.-dollar billionaire by writing books, the secondrichest female entertainer and the 1,062nd richest person in the world. Rowling has received honorary degrees from St. Andrews University the University of Edinburgh, the University of Aberdee and Harvard University.

Trivia
The boy wizard Harry Potter and author JK Rowling share the same birthday: 31st July. Twelve publishing houses rejected her original Harry Potter manuscripts, but eventually small publisher Bloomsbury gave her a chance with a small advance. She claimed her headmaster at primary school to have been her inspiration behind the character, Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter. Rowling went from being unemployed and living on state benefits to becoming a multimillionaire in five years.

Meryl Streep
She inadvertently left her Academy Award for Kramer vs. Kramer on the back of a toilet. She is the most nominated actress in the world for the Golden Globes and Oscars. Originally applied to Law School but slept in on the morning of her interview and took it as a sign she was destined for other things.
