From the graph to your left you can see that the majority of the audience are between 20-30. I chose to obtain this age range to fit in with my own product and its audience. Because my video features indie/folk conventions it were only suitable to obtain an audience suitable for this genre.. This connotes that folk genre has an older audience for its music. Following this I can make the assumption that more indie/folk artists will obtain an older audience for its music due to popularity amongst 20-30 year olds.

I obtained the ratio from male to female that would best fit in well with my research. This meant intentionally gathering more male than female audiences to take my questionnaire. This was because from recent research into the folk and indie audience I found that the male population were more involved with these genres. This was down to the music that is portrayed. So by having a range of people asked, with male being the most common it allowed myself to acquire the answers suitable for my music video and its genre of indie/folk. I can state that from the graph the ratio of men to woman are nearly equally alike. This tells me that the folk scene is not only limited to men but also woman. This was what I predicted from researching my ultimate fan.

Folk music was the most common genre from the sum of people I asked. This shows a love for the folk genre and is exactly the type of audience that I was aiming for. You can also see indie is the second favourite genre of music, this is also very good with the fact that my song is an indie/folk genre, So by having these results is perfect.

Seeming that all people I asked adored either indie or folk music this would mean that by creating a music video based upon the genre of indie/folk, our music video and also products that have been created to advertise and promote my music video such my digipak and magazine cover will hit the perfect market because it features both an indie feel with an acoustic guitar but also the folk genre from the use of violins and double basss and together these collaborate to create an amazing sound that the audience, asked in my questionnaire, would love. This could mean that popularity would grow within the indie/folk scene just like the band Mumford and Sons are doing, by bringing into the scene the folk genre that is very popular with todays young audience. Relating this back to my product, this could mean that a wider audience would be able to acquire and view my music video.

I made a prediction that the main sub genre folk lovers choose to listen to would be acoustic purely for the reason that folk has aspects of acoustic conventions throughout their music. This has been shown through my product with the use of an acoustic guitar playing in the foreground at the beginning of the music video. These results that I obtained indicated that my perdition was correct. The audience like an acoustic feel and this has what Ben and I have featured within all three products. Here, I have collected a lot of data from the different types of artists that people have enjoy. This idea of the audience being creative and adventure was an idea that I have featured through my music video with the use of mise en scene. The locations that feature portray ideas of an adventure. This is shown through storyline that progresses by taking the audience on an adventure of their own into the bleak and depressive feel towards the video.

You can see that most of the people I interviewed do use social networking sites and that the main site that they use are sites such as blogger and MySpace. As blogger is a webpage that lets you post whatever you want and is a very creative website it gives the essence that the folk scene use websites to show of their personality, being creative. Also from using MySpace, even though it is an outdated website compared to Facebook and twitter it still shows a very unique look upon the folk genre. From the results, showing that the audience do use social networking sites, this would help towards my music video by gaining popularity from views. Again the high use of iPhone suggests that the audience have the money to by expensive phones. This shows that they are also up to date with the latest technology. So there is a sense of mainstream within the young folk genre. From using different from of media this could mean that my music video is obtained and perhaps purchased in a variety of media platforms.

It almost seems that it is a way of life for them and that folk music can change how one person lives. From these responses I can connote that from their love of folk music, That my music video would be a big hit with this audience and thus popularity rises. This could then mean that a wider audience would access my music video.

Have you ever been to a gig? 5 0 Yes No Everyone that I asked had been to a gig before and many had been to quite a few famous artist gigs. As you can see from the graph the most common for people in folk to attend is a Bellowhead gig or Imagine village. The reason for this is because these two bands are very big names in the folk world and because of how unique they are it makes the band more likable and enjoyable. Linking this back to my video, if my music video were to become viral and popularity arises then performances from the band would mean that a wider audience is approached.
