The constitutional convention was not an example of a community for many reasons, starting with the lack of diversity. There were delegates from every state at the constitutional convention. However, it wasnt even remotely diverse. They were all wealthy Caucasian males in their forties, and owned slaves (History Alive Textbook). This shows mostly uniformity, which is the exact opposite of a community. Communities have diversity: different races, social classes, genders and ages. Therefore, the constitutional convention was not an example of a community. In a community, everyone is included. The only time someone is excluded is when they are harming or destroying the community. However, in the constitutional convention, they excluded people for no reason (History Alive Textbook). Women, people of color and people who werent wealthy were excluded, although there was no prior evidence that they were a menace or disruption. This is not a community. Communities welcome everyone and give them a chance before they exclude them. This proves that the constitutional convention wasnt an example of a community.
