Dip switch of Subracks

The DIP switches on the BSC subrack are used to define the numbering of the BSC subrack. The DIP bits are numbered in ascending order from bit 1 to bit 8. ON represents digit 0 and OFF represents digit 1. As the DIP switches use odd parity check, the number of 1s in the eight DIP bits must be an odd number. Set the DIP switch as follows: Set bits 15 and 8 first. Set bit 7 to 0. Check the number of 1s in the bits of the DIP switch. If the number of 1s is even, set bit 6 to 1. If the number of 1s is odd, set bit 6 to 0.

Bit 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Meaning Subrack number control bit Subrack number control bit Subrack number control bit Subrack number control bit Subrack number control bit Odd parity check bit It is undefined, and is generally set as 0. The automatic DIP bit of the GSCU board in the central subrack is: 0, the starting of boards is highly dependent on the GBAM server, namely that the boards load from the server after starting. 1, the starting of boards is less dependent on the GBAM server, namely that the boards check the validity of the Flash file when starting, and load from the Flash file if the Flash file is valid or load from the server if the Flash file is invalid.

Encodes and decodes voice signals

Provides data service rate adaptation

Provides Tandem Free Operation (TFO) functions When the calling and called MSs use one voice coding scheme, the voice signals are encoded only once at the originating MS and decoded only once at the terminating MS. This reduces repeated

encoding and decoding and improves the quality of speech services.

Clock Subsystem
GGCU Reference Clock Input
To input the active-standby clock of the GGCU, you can use the signals provided by the

BITS and the 2.048MHz clock signal extracted from the upper-level clock by the
interface panel in the service subrack. The GGCU backplane uses the interface panel of the same subrack to extract the 8 KHz clock signals from the upper-level clocks.

Reference Clock for the GMPS or GEPS

The reference clocks are provided by the GGCU. The reference clocks generate 8kHz clock signals through the GGCU. GMPS: The clock signals are sent to the GSCU in the GMPS subrack through the backplane. Then, the clock signals are sent to other boards in the same subrack.

GEPS: The clock signals are sent to the GSCU board in the GEPS subrack through the
clock cable. Then, the signals are sent to other boards through the backplane.

Clock Synchronization Interconnection

The connection of the GGCU of the main subrack and the GSCU of the extension subrack is shown as following figure:

The active GGCU and the standby GGCU output 10-way signal channel respectively. A signal channel of an active GGCU and that of a standby GGCU are integrated through the Y-shaped cable.

GGCU support six service subracks, one is the GMPS, others five are the GEPSs where the 10 cables from GSCUs to GGCU can be connected at most. Any of component including GGCU, Y-shaped cable, and GSCU is faulty, the system clock still can work normally. GMPS

Hardware configuration Principle

Service processing boards

Single GDPUX supplies 960 voice circuits coding/decoding, it works as resource pool in subrack. If just need 1 board, we can configed as 2 boards, Otherwise do not config as N+!. DPUX supports 3740 voice circuits frame conversion or transmission between TRAU/IP/HDLC and TRAU, We can config as N+! Mode. Single GDPUP supplies 1024 MCS-9 PDCH channel of processing packet service, supports 1024 cells at most, GDPUP is resource pool of whole system and could be inserted in rear slots; Number of GDPUP+GDPUX+GDPUC couldnt be more than 10;

GXPUM/GXPUT

GXPUM must be inserted in 0&1 slots of GMPS/GEPS fixedly; GXPUT is inserted in 2&3 slots of GMPS/GEPS by requirement, when the TRX of current subrack is less than 256, CXPUT may not be configured, if needs, its certainly;

Interface Specification

Abis: GEIUB/GOIUB support 256TRX(HR)at most, GEHUB GFGUB/GOGUB also support 384TRX(HR)at most; A: GOIUA/GEIUA are configured 5 groups per subrack at most, if A interface uses optical transport, single subrack could access 9600 CIC at most;
