Introduction Installation of Side Strut Proper Mounting of Side Strut Wrong Mounting of Side Strut Affects of Wrong Mounting of Side Strut Examples of Wrong Installation Works Solutions Conclusions
INTRODUCTION
For protection against antenna shifting and deflection due to harsh weather, side strut is used to reinforce the antenna assembly. Misalignment is the most common problem encountered as a result of poor side strut installation.
The purpose of this document is to provide additional information and guide for the correct installation and mounting of side strut.
- Mount the end of the antenna side strut parallel as possible to the antenna direction. - The deviation angle should be 25o in any direction - Consider the offset of the antenna in order to position the side strut.

TOWER
Antenna Mounting: Good Side Strut Mounting: No Good - Strut is mounted almost 90o
Antenna Mounting: No Good Side Strut Mounting: No Good - Strut mounted on top
Antenna Mounting: No Good Side Strut Mounting: No good - strut is mounted at bottom
Antenna Mounting: No Good Side strut Mounting: No Good - strut is mounted almost 45o
SOLUTIONS
Solution 1: - Mount in same tower leg. - Change offset (from Left to right)
CONCLUSION
With proper installation of the side strut and correct offset, the risk of deforming, misaligning the antennas and traffic outages will be eliminated. Always mount the side strut in parallel to antenna direction for maximum stability.
