SPEECH TEAM WINS


The Clements Academic Speech Team earned the first place sweepstakes award at the Westside/Harmony Tournament this past weekend. Of the 17 students competing in individual events Friday, 6 students advanced to the final rounds of extemporaneous speaking and two of them earned qualifications to the Texas Forensic Association State Meet to be held in March 2014. Five students advanced to the final round of original oratory

State Thespian Results


Elizabeth Swanson qualified for nationals with her costume design for Cinderella. Ryan Brophy received a $1000 performance scholarship. Fran Ghizzoni was elected as the chair for the student state board.

MOVING?
Any student who is moving/withdrawing from Clements during the Holiday Break needs to come to the Registrars Office to fill out withdrawal paperwork. Once this is done, we will provide you with withdrawal forms, school records, etc to take to your new school.

HOSA WINNERS
several HOSA members competed in the online testing for Area 2. Congratulations to the Creative Problem Solving team they placed 2nd out of 14 teams. Please congratulate the members of this team: Isbella Cruz, Anusha Kemmireddy, and Maya Seernani.

CHS GERMAN TEACHER


Rustin Buck was chosen as one of the three German "Teachers of Excellence" this year. He received the award at the ACTFL conference this past Saturday in Orlando.

Students enrolled in one semester courses must return their textbooks to the Upstairs Library (Science side) by the end of the school day on December 20th. One semester courses include Health, Government, Economics, Psychology, Human Geography and Communication Applications. It is very important that your student returns their textbook on time as we need to have enough textbooks to distribute to the students enrolled in the course during the spring semester.

Jan 9th Textbooks will be distributed for one semester courses during the students class period. Jan 13th Late fees will begin accruing for fall one semester course textbooks that have not been returned. Late fees will be $1.00 per book/per day up to a maximum of $20.00 per book. Shots for Seniors


The passage of Senate Bill (SB) 1107, 82nd Texas Legislature, Regular Session, requires that all students entering Texas institutions of higher education to be vaccinated against bacterial meningitis within the last five years and at least 10 days prior to the first day of class. If you have received the meningitis immunization (Menactra) after September 2009, you meet the minimum criteria. If not, schedule your appointment early. The school will NOT be sponsoring a meningitis clinic to update these shots. Vaccines through Texas Vaccines for Children program are no longer available to vaccinate students with insurance.

Way to Go, Mu Alpha Theta


Please congratulate the Clements Mu Alpha Theta Math Club on two successful weekends of competition. On Saturday November 16th, the students competed in the Texas A&M University Math Contest and won 1st place sweepstakes. Also, on Saturday November 23rd the students competed in the Dulles High School TMSCA Contest, winning 1st place sweepstakes as well.

Golf teams celebrate


Boys Golf Team has moved up to #34 in the State of Texas. Girls Golf Team is currently ranked #2 in the State of Texas. Individual rankings: Amber Wang #3 Beryl Wang #15 Samantha Waldheim #44 Kelly Yang #50 Miriam Dumes #87

Zach Grafe Tournament


Saturday, January 11th, we will be hosting a Round Robin tournament at the CHS softball field throughout the day beginning at 9AM. After the tournament, we host a CHS Softball Alumni event. Former CHS softball players come together to participate in a slow pitch softball game verses our current CHS softball players. Tickets for this event will be sold for a minimum donation of $5.00. Tickets will go on sale after the semester break. All proceeds will go to the Zach Grafe Fund which will be used to help with immediate financial needs, and then any remaining funds will be applied to a college fund set up for the three kids.

COMP SCI WINS


Computer Science students competed in the USA Computer Olympiad. The results were released today. Please congratulate the following students for their achievements Raymond Chee Advanced to the Gold level Michael Lo Piccolo advanced to Silver level with a perfect score in the bronze level Alexander Yang , Jeffrey Zhang advanced to Silver level

Pro Grad
Cookbooks are in and we will be selling them every Friday at lunch time until Dec. 20th. They also will be available at the ProGrad meetings and on line at the CHS ProGrad website. Also if you pre-ordered your cookbooks, please pick them up at the ProGrad meetings or any Friday during the lunch hour at the Cookbook Sales table located on the stage. Cookbooks are $10.00
