 In the south they speak Nubian and in the


west some speak Berber but the most
common are Arabic and Swalilal

Education
 Egypt has the largest education system in the Middle East
and North Africa (MENA) and it has grown rapidly since
the early 1990s

 The public education in Egypt has three levels


kindergarten primary school and preparatory school
which takes you from the age of 4- 14.

 After that there is secondary school which is for people


who are committed to learning and the age group is
15-17.

 The education is free in any government schools.

 There are very few private schools in Egypt.

 On average poor people go to school for 3 years less than


Culture
 Women wear veils mostly everywhere they go and they don’t appear
in public with out one.
 Family honor is very important.
 Egypt is a republic with a parliamentary government like in the U.S

 Many people live in an area along the Nile River called the Nile Valley
Alson the Nile Delta.

 In those places it gets really crowed with several thousand people per
square kilometer.

 The president is the head of the state. They have large pictures
posters of him everywhere in Cairo.
 Islam is the most practiced religion there!

Economy
  Egypt's economy depends on agriculture, media,
petroleum exports, and tourism

 More than three million Egyptians working abroad (Saudi


Arabia, the Persian Gulf and Europe, mainly)

 Rapidly-growing population, limited arable land, and


dependence on the Nile all overtax resources and
stress the economy.

 Economic conditions have started to improve after a period


of stagnation from the adoption of more liberal
economic policies by the government, as well as
increased revenues from tourism and a booming stock
market
Medical
 IFMSA is a medical group in Egypt organized to keep
Egypt safe and give sick people hope.

 People who are apart of IFMSA organize many health


projects to keep Egypt healthy.

 The IFMSA is a student medical group in Egypt that


helps Egypt in many advances in medical
research

 They sometimes go out of the country to get help


from other countries to fight certain diseases
that cannot be done by themselves.

 Egypt is doing well in fighting off diseases such as


Typhoid fever and keeping their county clean for
Diseases

 Some of the most common and widespread


diseases are:
 Cholera
 Escherichia coli diarrhea
 Hepatitis A
 West Nile Fever
 Schistosmiasis
 Typhoid fever
Land
 Latitude and longitude: 30º06 N and 31º25 E.

 Climate: hot, dry summers with moderate winters

 Terrain: vast desert plateau broken apart by the Nile valley


and delta

 Natural resources: petroleum, natural gas, iron ore,


phosphates, manganese, limestone, gypsum, talc,
asbestos, lead, zinc

 Land use: arable land: 2.87% permanent crops: 0.48%

 Natural hazards: droughts, earthquakes, flash floods,


Climate
 The days are warm or hot, and nights are cool. 

 Egypt has only two seasons: Mild winter from November to


April, hot summer from May to October.

 Egypt receives fewer than eighty millimeters of


precipitation annually.

 Most of the precipitation is around the coast.

 The wettest area (around Alexandria) receives only around


200 millimeters of rain a year.

 Cairo (the capital) receives about one centimeter of


precipitation a year.
