Primary Objective:- What is consumer actually looking for while choosing a cellular operator? Secondary Objective:- Is he satisfied with the facilities provided by the current service provider and if not then why? COMPANIES UNDER RESEARCH Companies that were included in the survey are as follows:- 1. Aircel 2. Airtel 3. MTNL 4. Idea 5. Reliance 6. Vodafone RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Both PRIMARY & SECONDARY data were used for the research. Data was collected by using a questionnaire that included different types of questions like 1. Dichotomous, 2. Likert Scale, 3. Multiple Choice Questions RESEARCH METHODOLOGY The questionnaire was so designed to know the following basic things that influence consumer while choosing a cellular operator:- 1. FINDINGS AND CONCLUSION During the survey, following things were found out:- The largest market share is owned by VODAFONE, followed by AIRTEL and AIRCEL whereas at last MTNL and RELIANCE have equal market shares. Market share is largely occupied by prepaid numbers. Most of the people in the sample were influenced by their family members to choose their operator. Most importantly, CDMA has almost vanished from the market as everyone now prefers GSM service Rating of an operator is done on the basis of the network coverage it provides.
RECOMMENDATIONS Following are the recommendations according to the survey results:-
Mobile phone user is more concerned about the network coverage so MTNL & Reliance should improve on their network coverage in areas where they need to. Most of the users complaint about less plans as per their requirements. So if possible mobile operators should come up with different plans like night calling cards. During national occasions, mobile operators charge for everything that they provide free under a scheme, this could be the best trump card for operator with followers to stay in the market.
