Anthracite is the highest grade of coal, with black metallic
glittering color (luster), contains between 86-98% carbon (C)
with a water content of less than 8%. Value of the heat
generated nearly 15,000 BTU per pound.
The characteristics:
glossy black colour
Strong Material Compacted
have a low water content
have a high content of solid carbon
has a low carbon content fly
relatively difficult to oxidize
high value of the heat generated

Bituminous element contains 68-86% carbon (C) and the
water content of 8-10%. Value of the heat generated
between 10,500 to 15,500 BTU per pound.
The characteristics:

Sub-bituminous contains less carbon and more water, therefore it
becoming less efficient heat source than bituminous, with a carbon
content of 35-45% and generate heat value between 8,300 to
13,000 BTU per pound. Although the low heat value, this coal
generally has a lower sulfur content than other types, which makes
it preferable for use because of a cleaner burning results.
The characteristics:
black
Compacted material already
has a medium water content
has a medium dense carbon content
has a medium carbon content of fly

Lignite (Brown coal) is very soft coal whose containing 35-
75% of water by weight. Lignite is a young geologically coal
which has the lowest carbon content, 25-35%. Heat
generated values ranged from 4,000 to 8,300 BTU per
pound.
The characteristics:
brownish color
Compacted material but very fragile
have a high water content
have a low content of solid carbon
