Treatment

Intentions
With this documentary I am setting out to achieve
various objectives which include how was the finance in
football 10 years ago and how it has changed
dramatically. Also in this documentary I will be covering
what else has the growth of finance changed in the
premier league such as the amount of foreign players
that have been bought by premier league teams; what
does this mean for home grown players.

The angle that I am going to take on this is a

non biased so my audience can have their
own point of view and they can make this up
with all the information.
Content of idea

The unique selling point in my idea is that this is a growing issue in

football with a lot of pundits are talking about it an there has not been
a solid documentary in it so in some sense I am taking advantage of a
niche in the market.
The argument points are that this subject is being very publicised in
the media recently and many people saying that this is a negative
rather than a positive but with no knowledge behind it. To sum it up
the argument is going to be money for football is good or money for
football is bad
Structure and running order

• segment 1 – intro( for my intro) I will film inside or outside the home of
the England national team Wembley stadium

• segment 2 – (Vox pops) I have specific locations where I want to do my

Vox pops and those locations are outside either Upton park, the Emirates
stadium or even Wembley I will film here because that’s were most football
fans are based.

• segment 3 – (interview with an expert) I am going to get an interview with

a financial expert who works for the FA.
segment 4 – (opinion of a manager) I will get an interview with a
manager and see what is his take on the matter, to see what his opinions
are.
Segment 5 - ( first hand experience) I will get an interview from a
member of a club at a club that have gone bust before or a presently
bankrupt or also if they have ever been on the brink.

Explanation of research & key findings

Focus group

This was one of my research techniques I asked a group of people

my ideas and they pointed out the strengths and weaknesses.
Explanation of research & key findings

Questionnaire

This was another method that I used to find out

information about my audience. It was a series of
questions and I had to answer them.
Technical viability

These are the

equipments that I will
using for the production
stage when I will be
actually filming
Technical viability

Theses are some of the

equipment that I will be using
during the post production stage. I
will be editing my work and putting
together the best parts of my
documentary
Practical viability

I my documentary I will try and get expert to cat there view on my topic
and the reason for getting expert enhances the reliability of my
production. The person that I will try and get in my documentary is
Richard Scudamore he is the chief executive of the premier league.
I will find this person in the FA headquarters in Soho square because
that’s where he is located. Hopefully I will be able to film in some sort of
office at the headquarters. Access to theses locations will be hard but I
believe that I will be able to get through and gain permission.
In my documetary I am going to be using achieve footage because I will
need it to give my audience a clearer description of my documentary.

I will be airing this after the ford football focus programme on Saturday
because most of the football fans are already tuned in
Commercial viability
The market

After doing some research on my topic I found out that there are hardly any similar documentaries to
mine and. I see this as a good thing and a opportunity because this topic is spoken about
everyday in the world of sport and I see this as a niche.

Your budget
To make this documentary I believe that it will cost a some money but hard to know how much it will
be. After doing some research I found out that it will cost money for achieve footage and maybe
also to film in side football grounds. There also other things that will need money such as
equipment and everything that comes under that. And also extra money that will be their for the
crew and the cast (refreshments)].

Distribution and exhibition

My programme will meet the ethos of the BBC because it covers all the main points of the ethos
which are inform, educate and also entertain. In my documentary it will tell everyone about the
financial difficulties for some teams and the stability for others. And also it will entertain the
audience because there will be archive footage and lastly it will give information about financial
stability and how it can go wrong and what things can trigger that such as not winning enough
trophies if you’re a big team.
