Uncertainty about groups purpose
They never thought that their purpose is to actually win
the World Cup
Structure

each player be placed

in all cases be the captain
Behaviours that are unacceptable
Coming late
Thinking about their state
Kabir (coach) explains to the team- First play for India, then
the team and at last themselves

Storming Stage:
The players from different state are put together randomly.
The intra group conflict is evident at the time of allocation of
beds in the dormitory and also for the position of play.
Leaders do emerge themselves in group naturally, Bindiya
Naik emerges as a leader in the group in various occasions
like in a scene she made all the players to sign to demand the
resignation of the coach.
Despite Bindiyas insistence that experienced players like her
are the leaders, coach Kabir Khan too established his
leadership dominance and control in numerous occasions.
Keeping players on constant stress by training rigorously
which include 4a.m 10 km runs and strong criticism of their
performance in an effort to make them work together.

Norming Stage:
The cohesiveness is demonstrated at
the McDonalds when they unite and
fight against the boys who eve teased
them.
Another scene which depicts the
cohesiveness is when they get the
challenge to play against the boys team
for a chance to appear in the world cup.
The structure of the team is solidified
when their roles are made clear after
their first defeat against Australia.

Stage IV: Performing

It all started when the coach with

confidence in his group challenges
the boys team and win their
admiration
Clear goals, rules, roles,
acceptance (winning performance
is not guaranteed)
Harmony: Working together for one
goal that is winning the World Cup
final

Problem Solving: Match with South

Korea, checked man to man marking
with the help of senior player, Bindia
Naik
Productivity: The victory with
England, Spain, New Zealand, South
Africa, Argentina and South Korea
shows the women at performing
stage

Shared and Participative

leadership
Full development of potential

Stage V: Adjourning
Task Completion
Move to other places
Take a look one last time and ponder upon what
went well, what could we do better in another
situation so that the loose ends are wrapped up

The conclusion to the interpersonal behaviors

includes a chance to say thank you and good-bye
to the team members

Ranges from imaginary gift to various celebration and

even plans to meet again, Closure is a final essential
part of the team process

Coercive Power when he punishes a player for
reporting late for registration at the camp, by
sending players out of practice when he observes
notoriety.
Kabir Khan uses Expert & Legitimate Power,
when he decides the positions that the players are
going to play from. Most of the team members
respect the decision but some resist as well.

team members when he earns their respect & is
