Ques1: Reflect about the talent management aspects of the movie selected, along with
mapping the concept learnt with the movie. Also justify the points you mention.
The movie is essentially a real-life occurrence where the coach of the Indian Hockey team
Kabir Khan was disrespected and labelled as traitor just for the reason that under his
mentorship India failed the hockey finals in opposition to the rival country Pakistan. After
this happening, Kabir Khan was extremely dismayed and gave up on coaching for hockey.
But after almost seven years he re-emerges to make the comeback along with 16 member
players of the Indian women’s Hockey team from distinct district and state. Kabir’s objective
was to play for India. The girls have their personal benefits to be a part of the team and play
for it but they were utterly being egocentric and not recognizing what is the distinction in
competing for the benefits and what is the significance for playing as a team India. The girls
are far behind the thought of the trill and vitality necessary to play as team India, in fact they
are very fatigued and anxious by the difficult preparation of the coach Kabir Khan that they
want this status to be taken away from him and want their coach to be replaced. But the coach
is very convinced and resolute for developing the team that trust in the supremacy of working
as a team and harmonizing with the team members as hockey is the big game of coordination
and teamwork which is the highly essential part of the game. Kabir Khan who was the former
captain of the Indian team and was dishonoured and defamed just for of losing against
Pakistan comprehends very well the sense of returning empty hand and its implications on the
players. Consequently, he was very confident about this time and he was the one who chose
to turn the tables for Indian team this time and he had just one goal that was the trophy in the
for Indian team. He strongly believed that it’s not that we cannot make in our favour it was
just that we have not once thought of it, and that we were not concentrating on the correct
ambitions. However, the coach was very positive that if the team works consistently with this
kind of unity keeping the individual purposes apart there is no one who can beat team India.

The talent management aspects in the movie ChakDe India can be seen that is :
Goal oriented, Team work, Leadership skills and vision inclined.
Goal oriented: It can be seen in the movie among two players named Preeti and Komal who
were forward player in the game and it demonstrates that exactly how they constantly had
personal goals which take the lead to the team efficiency.
Teamwork: In the film we can see how the two player in the game were not prepared to
perform together though later on the turning point was once there was argument between the
players and it shows that a game can’t be won by lone player it need team work. And when
the game was against Australia the team work was crucially played by the two main players
in the game.
Leadership Skills: The leadership quality comprises several value such as good mindset ,
meaningfulness of what the squad strengths and weaknesses are, making right judgments at
right time , Giving importance to the team objectives and trust in the opportunity and the
players to make it possible. This can be witnessed in the movie several time and at the end
how the team leader took decision for wonderful win.
Vision: The most vital facet in the management is to have foresight and this can be witnessed
in the movie that is in what manner the couch developed girls for fight against other country
and said that the vision of our is win. There are several phrases where we are able to see
vision, such as “There 16 players , different states , backgrounds and have different skills for
the game but their vision will be Dream the Win. Only vision for all.

Ques 2: What changes would you recommend to the Talent Management plan of the movie
plot?
The movie Chak De India shows organizational behaviour put into practice. It comprises of
the organizational behaviour matters like management, team formation, norming and
storming of teamwork, group dynamics, personality, motivation, etc. All these theories are
depicted with the corresponding story of Indian female hockey team.
Training is a very crucial part of any organisation or any team in the movie Chak De India
Kabir Singh failed the main step. He did not create a relaxed atmosphere for the players while
they were gathering for the first time. A appropriate and correct opening could be
icebreaking. All of these girls come from diverse region of India and therefore they had
dissimilar traditions and ethics and viewpoint about life, if the orientation was accomplished
in a joyful and enjoyable way there were possibilities that they would have established a solid
bond from beginning itself. All of them were not obvious about their organisational goal.
There was a huge clash of personal goals and organisational goal.
In the movie Kabir khan somewhere lacks in directing his team players, as most of the time
in the beginning there were continuous conflicts between the players, as every player wanted
to perform individually, although in the beginning of the movie he had made very clear that
they were all playing for one nation altogether, here the most important aspect is the team
building. The players from various states with different ethnic background, language, culture,
personality, and attitudes come upon a team to play together with a common goal i.e to play
for the country, this could be achieved through the retention process, if Kabir Khan through
making them realise the value of the champion they will be playing at, and what they will be
representing. It also showed that goal can be easily achieved if they work on the team with
the shared values and motives, although there were some conflicts among the team member,
but most of them were resolved through hastily decision making, showing anger by Kabir
Khan, instead he could have listened to the problem carefully first and he could make the
players a commitment to work together and listen to each other to solve the conflict.
The coach motivates using negative comments to each player by shouting and punishing
them by keeping them in a bench until they apologize, rather he should give positive
feedback and end performance review of each player, if a player does not perform better, she
can be instructed to practice alone for the time being to improve upon the weaknesses.
Keeping players on constant stress by training rigorously which include 4a.m 10 km runs and
strong criticism of their performance in an effort to make them work together could always
not bring out the expected outcomes, it can also have negative outcomes such as getting
demotivated, I suggest for this to give players a break from practice and that time can be
utilized to ponder upon their skills and competencies, the coach can preparer a chart for each
players showing their strengths and weaknesses and what fields they need to improve upon
otherwise the weaknesses of the group members may become vivid in this stage of group
formation.

Conclusion
The movie Chak De India is a fantastically well explored and well-made film which has all
the talent management theories put into practice. It works as a great way to understand about
the subject matter.
The education methodology with the help of a movie is a good idea in itself. We have been
well benefitted with the attempt as we have been able to see how the academic knowledge
that we have gained into the practice.
The talent management subject matters like identifying personality traits, leadership skills,
ethics, leading change, recruiting, retaining, organisational structure, crisis management have
been displayed in the movie.
