Kikinda is a town in north Banat. The town has 42,000 inhabitants. Today the name of
the town was recorded in 1718 as gross Kikinda, which means unpopulated area.

In The National Museum of Kikinda


are the remains of mammoth.
Mammoth is 500,000 years old. It
was dug in 1996 in the clay pit
companies Toza Markovic, the
territory of Kikinda. Mammoth is

symposium of sculpture from
terracotta. The symposium was
established in 1982 and since

Applied Arts.

in the centre of Kikinda.
There are about 743 owls.

Suvaca is old mill, built in 1899. Mill is powered by the power of the
horse. The mill uses one of the five pairs of horses. It is the only
Suvaca in Vojvodina, the only preserved mill in Serbia. In Europe
there are only two, one mill in Hungary and this mill. There were
many mills like this in the town. In 1847 there were 51.

Library "Jovan Popovic," was founded in 1845. It is one of the oldest libraries in Serbia.

There is a natural
treasure of inestimable
value. The old lake
was created by the river
Galadska.

Kikinda has a recreation


centre "Lake". The centres
facilities include indoor
and outdoor swimming
pools. In the closed part
are two pools, and outside
are three pools.

There is hunting and fishing area. Fishing is on the Danube-Tisa-Danube channel.
