Sweetheart Neckline
A sweetheart neckline is a
moderately low neckline with heartshaped center front. Sides of
neckline slant toward neck in front
with back rounded.

Cowl Neckline
A cowl neckline is a draped
neckline falling soft folds; Large
draped collar, frequently cut on the
bias, that extends nearly to should
in circular style. Popular in 1920s
and 1930s.

Funnel Neckline
A funnel neckline is a neckline that is
wide and high, resembling a funnel. It is
important to note that the funnel neck is
not sewn at the neckline, but rather, is
attached to the body of the garment

Peasant or Drawstring Neckline


A peasant or drawstring neckline is
a low round neckline gathered into
a bias band or made with a
drawstring. Sometimes worn offthe-shoulder fashion.

One-Shoulder Neckline
A one-shoulder neckline is a low
neckline, usually elasticized,
extending around upper part of arms
baring the shoulders, sometimes with
straps, sometimes without. Frequently
finished with a wide ruffle around the
edge.

Jewel Neckline
A jewel neckline is a high round
neckline.

Square Neckline
A square neckline is a moderately
low neckline cut square in front.
Also called Dutch neckline.

U-Neck
A u-neck is a scooped neckline
made low in front in shape of a
horseshoe. Also referred to as a
horseshoe neckline.

V-Neck
A v-neck is a neckline cut down
in front or in back to a sharp
point resembling the letter V.

Bateau Neckline
A bateau neckline is a boat-shaped
neckline wide from side-to-side over
the shoulders but high in front and
back. Popular neckline in 1930s and
1940s.

Scoop Neckline
A scoop neckline is a low curved
neckline extending to shoulders or
cut deep in front or back or both.

Off-the-Shoulder Neckline
An off-the-shoulder neckline is a low
neckline, usually elasticized, extending
around upper part of arms baring the
shoulders, sometimes with straps,
sometimes without. Frequently finished
with a wide ruffle around the edge.
