Study Approach

Implications for Nursing

Qualitative Study
Control group containing 50 novice
nurses.
Experimental group containing 50
novice nurses; this group will have 5
education sessions with a nurse
educator.
Pre and post exit survey.
Do you feel satisfied after leaving
work?
How many days in the past week did
you feel you could have provided
better quality patient care?

Studies are showing that BSN

prepared nurses are not
feeling prepared to delegate
upon entry into the practice or
are unaware of the concept of
delegation entirely.

Need for Research

Few undergraduate
nursing programs have
clinical rotations
dedicated to student
nurses practicing
delegating tasks.
Nurses are delegating
inappropriate tasks as
they are uneducated
about what can be
delegated.
