Malaysia and India

Malaysia, a middle-income country, has transformed itself since the
1970s from a producer of raw materials into an emerging multisector economy. Malaysia's economy is one of the most competitive
in the world, ranking 14th in 2015.
The total population in Malaysia was estimated at 31.2 million people
in 2015, according to the latest figures from Statistics Malaysia.
Looking back, in the year of 1960, Malaysia had a population of 8.2
million people.
India is developing into an open-market economy, yet traces of its
past autarkic policies remain. Economic liberalization measures,
including industrial deregulation, privatization of state-owned
enterprises, and reduced controls on foreign trade and investment,
began in the early 1990s and served to accelerate the country's
growth, which averaged under 7% per year from 1997 to 2011. The
total population in India was estimated at 1254.0 million people in
2015, according to the latest census figures. Looking back, in the
year of 1950, India had a population of 359.0 million people.
