SERVICE SECTOR
The service sector consists of the "soft" parts
of the economy, i.e. activities where people
offer their knowledge and time to improve
productivity, performance, potential, and
sustainability, which is termed as affective
labour.
The basic characteristic of this sector is the
production of services instead of end products.
Services (also known as "intangible goods")
include attention, advice, access, experience,
and discussion.

IT Functions
Roles of IT can be best explained by
following major portfolios.
Developers: This team is responsible for
coding the business logic. They work on
backend technologies such as JAVA,
.NET, PHP, etc.
Designers: They are responsible for the
UI/UX and overall look & feel of the
application.
Testers: They assure the proper flow and
functioning of the application.

Information Technology (IT) revolution takes places everywhere.

Organisations implementing IT are able to provide better services


and thereby able to improve their businesses manifold.

In earlier days IT has enormously been used in manufacturing sector


regarding product designing and development, product modification
etc.

Now-a-days the importance of IT has been strongly felt and applied in


the services sector.

IT in Hospitals

The hospital management is taking place with the application of IT.

A patient's record comprising his name, age, sex, disease found,


blood group, height, weight, blood pressure level, etc is stored in
computer systems.

Similarly when the surgeries take place, the hospitals use computers
and specialized software for judgement of diseases/problems and for
curing the diseases.

For billing purposes also the computers have been used widely in
hospitals.

IT in Pharmaceutical Shops
Whenever any medicine enters the shop, all the information
related to the medicine its name, quantity, manufacturing
date, expiry date, its content, price and other information can
be entered into a computer system
Whenever any medicine has been sold the software created
would also give indications to the manager/supervisor of a
pharmaceutical shop related to the number of quantities
sold, number of quantities available in the shop and the
computer also warn them regarding the date of expiry.
