Increased work load

Lack of communication skills
Lack of competency/certification
in newly recruited personnel.

Causes of problems
Inadequate clearance time for RT
Requirement of more shop floor RT due to large
dimensions of jobs.-over load on weekends
Radiation safety regulatory agency requirements.
Manual film processing
Non-NDE related work- tackling quarrels with internal
customer.
No advance information to NDE regarding the specific
needs- last minute running
Inadequate space of RT interpretation and storage area

Remedial actions taken


Imparting training to full time personnel
Keeping buffer of certified L-IIs( part time)
Supervisor wise allocation of projects-for more
accountability and responsibility
Increase of resources no.of sources increased to 12
from 9
Design of radiation shields- shop floor RT with less
cordon off.
Developing vendors to suite our requirements
Increased the effective area of RT dept.- no. of viewers
doubled and film storage area increased to 50%.
Making subcontractors more responsible introduction
of VPRS , Levi systems.
