The path to paradise

begins in hell - canto
This quote from the his
IIIepic poem has a

very interesting idea behind it. I believe that

what the quote means is that in order to
achieve true happiness, you must endure
great hardships, and the only way through
towards your Paradise is to travel through
lifes tough moments, or Hell.

Poetic Devices
Three poetic devices that can be seen in his most popular work are:
Imagery: He uses this in the poem to paint a vivid picture of the
landscape of what Hell looked like and what he saw around him.
Symbolism: The Divine comedy is FULL of symbolism. One example of
symbolism is the way that the the beast Geryon, who symbolises
dishonesty and the fraudulent nature of humans with his human
head and snake body.
Allusion: The Divine Comedy has a lot of references to biblical stories,
such as Abraham, cain and abel.

Why Him?
The reason that I chose Dante
Alighieri as my poet was
because I had read a small
part of inferno when I was
younger and I really got
hooked into it. I also played a
videogame based off of it,
and that further piqued my
interest.
