INTRODUCTION
• It is a pharmaceutical company

•it makes disposable syringes and needles

• 5 lakh syringes per day,340 needles per shift are manufactured,


1 million needle every day, in 18 seconds 64 needles are made

•raw materials- stainless steel is imported, Medical grade paper,


plastic granules(pp and hdp), moulds imported from Switzerland

•European technology is used for making plunger

•26 permanent staff, 250 workers

• aprons and masks are used.

• Fire extinguisher is kept in appropriate number

•proper dissemination of information is there

• the usage of each and every chemical is written and hanged


on the wall

• factory is visited by the pollution control department, health


and safety department

• Policies regarding recruitment: requirements are properly defined
basically mechanical engineers,
supervisors(min 4 yrs experience),
bottom requirement (fresher's),
semi skilled workers

• training: proper training is given to the employees after the joining

•appraisal: workers are appreciated for good work and monetary


and non monetary awards are given.

• time keeping: attendance is of most importance, increment is


given based on this. 4-5 min grace time is given.

• water treatment plant is there which purifies the dirty water to make
it pure enough to be used in the gardening purpose
STORES AND PROCUREMENT

• SYSTEM: the system is kept in proper order

• INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: lead time of 4 months to import


raw materials. The finished goods are packed with medical craft
paper and proper sterilization is done after the packaging

•VENDOR DEVELOPMENT: proper assessment of vendor, no


compromisation is done.
selection, approval and procurement of vendor. 1,2 or 3 vendors
depending upon the requirement
1 yr MOU is done with reliance. Price is also an important criteria
in selecting the vendor. Rating of vendors is done on 5 point
criteria based on quality, timely supply, price, quantity etc
MATERIAL HANDLING

Material handling system:


• raw materials goes to QA and QC department.
• Material is checked through random sampling method.
• After approval is goes to further production.
• After every step of production the finished goods are checked
manually and after the complete fixing of the cannula with the hub
the final inspection is done through machine.
• the rejected pieces are ejected out by the machine and fresh
pieces are done siliconization.

Production plan:
Chase strategy: production rate matches demand rate, 14
moulding machines are there but only 6 are operational on
general days. Rest are operational depending upon the
demand.

Capacity planning: short term planning is done. Optimum


production is expected from the employees .

Inventory management: VED analysis


V= vital items given more attention, out of stock situation result
in stoppage of production
E= essential items, without these system would not fail
D= desirable items, do not affect immediately but lead to more
efficiency and less fatigue
