Davao Region, formerly calledSouthern Mindanao(Filipino:Timog
Mindanao)
Davao Region has an aggregate land area of:
31,692.75 km2

Location:

North: Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Norte


East: Davao Gulf and The Celebes Sea
West: Agusan del Sur, Bukidnon, North Cotabato and
Sultan Kudarat

Etymology
Many historians believe that the nameDavaois the mixture of the
three names that three different tribes.
TheManobos, an aboriginal tribe, referred to the Davao River
as Davohoho.
TheBagobos, referred to the river asDavohaha, which means
"fire
TheGuiangantribe, called the river asDuhwow.
