History
Before the bridge was built the only
way across the San Francisco Bay was
by boat. A ferry service began in
1820 with a regular schedule of
transporting water to San Francisco.
Many wanted a bridge to connect San
Francisco to Marin County . Many
experts said a bridge could not be
built across a strait that had strong
swirling tide and currents. San
Francisco city engineer estimated it
at one hundred million which at the
time sounded preposterous. He asked
bridge engineers if it could be built
for less . The one who responded was
Joseph Strauss. The Southern Pacific
Railroad files a lawsuit against the
project which led to a mass boycott of
the ferry service. Irving Morrow
designed the shape of the bridge
towers, lighting scheme, tower
decorations, streetlights, railings, and
walkways. Charles Alton Ellis did most
of the technical and theoretical work
that built the bridge .

Conclusions
The designer could have talked to his
coworkers about certain problems.
This building is important if you have
plans of building a bridge with the
same problems. I think the overall
process of building this bridge was ok.
The bridge is one of the greatest
achievements to architectural history.
The designers should have confirmed
a final design instead of building a
bridge on a bridge. There should have
been more safety measures. The net
that was suspended below the bridge
should have been to reinforced to
prevent the deaths of ten workers and
injuries of two. They should have also
made sure they were financially
secured before beginning construction.
