Roman and Greek Mythology

Christopher McFayden

Compare
Roman and Greek Mythology are both very diverse in the Gods they
have and in their beliefs
Some could say that it is a different way at looking at our world.
They were not created in the same time period, but they both
have the same mythology.
They were both great pieces of work in the way they were told
and and the content it contains.
They were so similar because the Romans adopted their ideas from
Greek Mythology

Contrast
Greek Mythology talked more about tales of the unexplainable and Roman
mythology is made up of battles, fights andstories between immortals.
They were created almost 1000 years apart.
They were created for different reasons. We dont know why Greek
Mythology was created but we do know that the romans wanted the
Roman mythology to be their religion
The looks of the Gods were very important to the Greeks but the Roman
Gods dont have any looks and they have to be inferred by the reader.
Finally, Roman Mythology ignores the thought of mortality and they think
that life after death is very important.

The Roman God Neptune

Neptune was the God of the Sea
He has two brothers, Jupiter and Pluto
Neptune is very similar to the Greek God Poseidon
Neptune was also worshipped as he God of Horsesand they thought
he had a role in causing earthquakes.
Because he was worshipped in this way, he had a temple near the
race tracks.
The way that he became the God of the Sea was when the world was
divided into 3 parts and Neptune ended up with the Sea.

Christians view on Paganism

The Romans appreciated the new religion that was forming.
Long after Christianity was created persecution started in 64 A.D.
The biggest persecution of the Christians was by the end of the first century
Also, they severed all their ties with Jews and made themselves independent.
This made it become a very known religion.
During the second century, the Christians were persecuted for their beliefs.
In conclusion, the Christians did not like the pagans or their religion because
of the persecution and hatred between the two groups.
