INTRODUCTION

Ebola virus disease (EVD), is a severe, often fatal illness in humans.


Started wild animals and spreads to humans.
It began in the Central Africa.
TRANSMISSION

Fruit bats of the Pteropodidae.

Contact with the bodily fluids of infected animals such as


chimpanzees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, etc.
SYMPTOMS
Incubation is from 2 to 21 days.

Not infectious until they develop symptoms.

First fatigue, muscle pain, headache and sore throat.

Followed by vomiting, diarrhea, rash, symptoms of impaired


kidney and liver function.
DIAGNOSTIC

antibody-capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA);


antigen-capture detection tests;
serum neutralization test;
reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay;
electron microscopy;
virus isolation by cell culture.
