COMPETENCY 5: 14
Identify social policy at the local, state, and federal level that impacts well-being,
service delivery, and access to social services

Local- Required to do attendance meetings for children who are at risk of


high number of absences
Ex: State polices in the school system require that children miss no more
than ten unexcused days.
If this requirement is failed, then the social worker by state law has a right to
take charges against the parent
Federal Level: Example we had to go to court with the parents of a young
man who miss forty two days of school. The judge ordered that the child
must not miss any more days for the remainder of the school year unless he
has a note, if failed to do so, the parents will be arrested

ACCESS HOW SOCIAL WELFARE AND ECONOMIES POLICES IMPACT THE DELIVERY OF AND ACCESS TO
SOCIAL SERVICES

Impact children based off the limitations of what their parents are not able to
get or afford. Social Welfare produces abundant resources such as find
shelter for a homeless boy who was staying in a hotel

Economic policis sometimes limit people with ne rules and regulations. No


raises for school social workers to help children in need

APPLY CRITICAL THINKING TO ANALYZE, FORMULATE, AND ADVOCATE FOR
POLICES THAT ADVANCE HUMAN RIGHTS AND SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

School social workers have to form ideas to help children who are suffering
from bullying, to improve their well being.
Example: Form new ideas of advocating for children who are bullied on social
media
