PHYSICAL SCIENCE - 3RD GRADE
Whats
matter?
Matter is anything that takes up
space and has mass or weight.
Volume
Volume is the amount of space
an object takes up.
Molecules
Molecules are tiny pieces of
material that make up matter.
Solids
Solids have a definite size
and shape. The molecules
are packed tightly together.
Liquids
In a liquid, the volume stays
the same but the shape can
change it takes the shape of
its container. The molecules are
far apart and can flow around.
Gases
Gases have no size or shape
and no volume. The molecules
are very far apart and bounce
all over.
Experiment:
Does air have weight?
Scientific Method
Purpose/Question: what question are we trying to answer or
discover?

Hypothesis/Prediction/Guess: What is an educated guess of the

answer to our problem?

Materials: What supplies or materials will we need for our

experiment?

Procedure: How are we going to conduct our experiment step-by-

step?

Results/Observations: What happened in our experiment?
