Short Biography
Katherine Coleman Goble Johnson was born April 26, 1918 in White Sulphur
Springs,west virginia. Katherine johnson worked at the national aeronautics
and space administration(NASA). She was hired at National Advisory
Committee of Aeronautics(NACA). She was given a higher position at NASA
because she could calculate the numbers for NASA in order to have any
man fly into space. She was the first African American Mathematician and
physicist at NASA. She graduated college at 14 and college at 18.

Johnson calculated John glenns way around the orbit. He personally
wanted katherine to calculate his numbers because he felt she knew best.
People who knew her called her a Human Computer. She worked at NASA
from 1953-1986. In 2015 she was given a medal by the former President
Barack Obama, which was the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Its
Important to science because she made America have a history by
calculating the numbers for the astronauts to fly.
Why i picked her
I picked Katherine johnson because i feel she was important to history by flying
people into space. I also picked her because i thought it would be intresting.
