LESSON PLANNING

By Rohan Cornelio
WHY LESSON PLANNING IS
HELPFUL FOR TUTORS?

Within the Ontario Curriculum, there are specific learning

goals outlined that every student is meant to complete by
the end of the school year.
The Lesson Plan is essentially a blue print for teachers and
tutors to ensure that the learning goals are being
incorporated into the classroom.
In addition, a lesson plan helps tutors guide their specific
sessions by looking at specifically how much time they want
to dedicate to a specific piece of material.

3 PART LESSON PLAN
TEMPLATE

This Lesson plan involves 3 main components

Minds On: Provide a game or introductory activity that
gets you familiar with what the students know about the
topic and what they do not know
Action: At this point in time students are provided with a
task for the day. (Ex: Reading an article and writing a
paragraph about it)
Consolidation: Review the students work for the day and
assess what needs improvement and what was done well.
(generally this component really influences your future
lesson plans).
