Biases

No personal biases.
But I felt the client would possibly have
biases towards me because I am an intern.
Background & Problem

Late 70s
Caucasian
Mild mental retardation (MR)
Physically disabled
Lives with boyfriend
All family has passed except a niece
Strengths & Limitations

Clients Life Experiences

Client had child at the age of 16.


Her parents gave the child up for adoption.
Parents arranged for her to have a tubal
ligation.
Family Deaths
Client was found in a puddle of urine and
was vomiting blood, and her home was
infested with bed bugs and roaches. At that
time was when DSS became involved.
Staff Recommendations

DSS acts as the payee of her SSI


They pay her bills and give her an allowance
on the first and fifteenth of the month to
ensure that she has enough money for food
and that she would have proper shelter.
DSS also takes her to doctors appointments
and fills her prescriptions.
She also has a home health aide
Research on MR

Low IQ
Delay in language development
Difficulty with problem solving skills and
learning social roles
Treatment
Developing a comprehensive management
plan that caters to the patient.
Changes

No changes
Clients health and quality of life has
increased since having the set service plans.
The client has been on this particular
regimen since 2009. The client has a nice
apartment; makes it to doctors
appointments; takes prescribed medications;
and has food to eat. Taking her mental status
into consideration change can disrupt the
progress made for all these years.
