THE MYSTERY OF

MARIE ROGET

Born on January 19, 1809, in Boston,
Massachusetts, writer, poet, critic, and editor
Edgar Allan Poe's tales of mystery and horror
gave birth to the modern detective story and
many of his works, including The Tell-Tale
Heart and The Fall of the House of Usher,
became literary classics. "The Raven," which
he published in 1845, is considered among
the best-known poems in American literature.

This story was based on the real
life.
This story is about a beautiful girl. Her name
was Marie Roget; she had a boyfriend, and
she lived with her mother in a small town.
She was found death in the Seina River in
Paris. Dupin who was a famous detective
started to investigate about that crime, and
he found some importants clues such us that
Marie had a sailor knot in her neck,also that
Marie was dragged to the river and then
threw away into the river from a boat. And
also that she had a lover, he was a sailor.
Those clues guided Dupin to find the killer.
And he discovered that the killer was his
lover, the sailor. But the sailor scaped, he
could not be caught. The sailor took the
boat and went away, so Dupin said that the
boat was going to guide them to find him.

Plot: the main idea of this story is that Marie Roget


who was a beautiful and young girl dissapeared;
nobody knew the reason or where she was. This
story is based on suspense because during the story
nobody knew who was the responsible of the crime.
External conflict: Marie's murder.

Internal conflict: Dupin investigated what happened to


Marie.

Exposition: Marie Roget: beautiful and young girl she was


22 years old.

Rising action: when the children who were playing near


the river discovered many things which were from Marie.

Climax: when some men found Marie's body floating on


the river.
Resolution: when Dupin discovered the
responsible of the crime.
