Similar to the Mammy caricature

Smiling, wide-eyed, dark skinned server; fieldworker, cook, butler, porter,

or waiter.

Often old, physically weak, psychologically dependent on whites for

approval.

Gentle and forgiving in nature.

How does your persistent stereotype affect how
others see, relate to, perceive African Americans?
This makes people perceive Africans Americans as willing people they can use,
manipulate, and oppress. It makes them seem like they love white people. When
other African Americans use the term Uncle Tom its demeaning. It has a
connotation of betrayal.
