ISLAMIC ETHICAL THEORY stipulates that all forms of behavior must be judged on the basis of two interrelated dimensions - psychological and behavioral dimension.
Psychological Dimension
relates to the primary motive of the individual in
doing something or in behaving the way he does. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said:
"Verily the rewards of deeds
depends upon the intention and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended." Behavioral Dimension
pertains to the manner of
performing an act. acts are broadly categorized into two: sacred acts and Sacred Acts secular acts. refer to acts that are done in relation to religious rites like praying, fasting, performing pilgrimage, giving zakat or alms and etc.
must be performed strictly in
accordance with the way Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) did it. Secular Acts Acts that are not directly related to religious rites such as: doing household chores, performing office works, playing and other similar deeds. Should be performed preferably in accordance with the way Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) did them with due consideration of the prevailing conditions and circumstances. Using different perspectives of ethical theory discussed in Chapter 2 as background,
*Islamic Ethical Theory falls
largely on Revelation Theory
*It partly supports the contention
of Empirical, Rational and Consequential Theories. SHUKRAN!
