REPETITION E

Without repetition, we would not be able to grasp the concept of active

in media.
Repetition works with patterns to help create a sense of movement
An example of repetition is the traditional method of making cartoons
with stills that show a repetition in frames to indicated a movement.

HOM
HARMONY E

Harmony is an essential component of good media, it allows a sort of

balance to exist
With harmony, things are able to compliment each other
Harmony groups like things together.

HOM
DOMINANCE E

Without dominance, there wouldnt be an area of first interest

One can direct the audiences eyes towards a particular area of interest
by adding a shape or design that overpowers the others
This could be due to size, bright colors, etc.

PROPORTION E

Proportion is important, especially when drawing objects with

components
Having proportion allows for the item to look more realistic
Proportion creates unity

VARIETY E

Variety is the eyes natural guide throughout a piece of art

Variety can be colors, shapes, or anything that is random and scattered
Variety allows the work to capture the attention of the viewer

This picture represent a long unified day of work in a

continuum. I believe this also has a sense of unity as it
creates a focal point on the right side.

This picture represents repetition of two different patterns

each. I also see a sense of direction on the one to the left
with the geese and fish

This image uses two different shapes in repetition to

create a three dimensional pattern
EXAMPLES OF HARMONY HOM

This image of the tree displays harmony by complimenting

black and white and opposites on each half of it. It has a
great sense of balance as well

This image displays two different shapes one with edges

and one without edges working in harmony

This picture has lines and circles working in harmony to

create bowls
EXAMPLES OF DOMINANCE HOM
BACK
E

This image reminds me of connect four. The red circle

shifts the viewers attention directly to that section of the
piece.

In this image, dominance is clearly seen by the large circle

on the left. It almost completely clouds the square on the
right.

The red rectangle instantly attracts the focal point of the

piece. This artwork is a perfect example of dominance, as
it also makes you not realize the couple is there on the
bottom right.
EXAMPLES OF PROPORTION HOM

E

This image is a perfect representation of proportion. All of

the figures follow a perfect scale down the latter.

This image is also a good example of proportion, as the

same exact foot is just shifted to a smaller proportional
version

This image displays proportion perfectly because the

spoons massive size would look weird with a bigger or
smaller cherry. The cherry is proportional to the spoon, and
scaled from actual objects to look normal
EXAMPLES OF VARIETY HOM

E

This picture uses a different amount of magazine and

newspaper cutouts to create a realistic image of a person.

This picture of a frog has a variety of images that make it

up. It is interesting to see the different predators and prey
on the frog

This image has different random images of food, including

a coke product. I see it as a variety of junk food
