What is E Governance

According to United Nations,


E-government is defined as
utilizing the Internet and the
world-wide-web for delivering
government information and
services to citizens.
Introduction
E-governance consists of providing
government information and services
through internet to citizens or businesses
or other governmental agencies.
E-governance ensures better services and
policies in more accurate and timely
manner, improved productivity
participation in public policy decision-
making.

GOVERNMENT-to-GOVERNMENT [G2G]:
G2G model consist of interaction between different
entities within the government or between two different
government. For example , if the American government
wants to buy oil from the Arabian government , the
transaction involved are categorized in the G2G model
GOVERNMENT TO CITIZEN [G2C] :
In this model government interact with citizen for various
public services provided by the government. For example,
a government can enforce laws pertaining to tax payment
on individual consumers over the internet by using
theG2G model.
GOVERNMENT TO BUSINESS [G2B] :
This model involve information flow between a
government and business organization for number of
activities like licensing , permit , revenue collection ,
tender acceptance .
BUSINESS TO GOVERNMENT [B2G] :
In this model , the business houses transact with the
E-Governance
initiatives in India

National e-Governance Plan
TheNational e-Governance Plan(NeGP) is an
initiative of theGovernment of Indiato make all
government services available to the citizens
ofIndiaviaelectronic media.
NeGP was formulated by the Department
ofElectronicsandInformation Technology(DEITY)
and Department of Administrative Reforms and
Public Grievances (DARPG).
The Government approved the National e-
Governance Plan, consisting of 27 "Mission Mode
Projects" (MMPs) and Ten components, on 18 May
2006

Division (NeGD)
The Department of Electronics and
Information Technology, Government of
India has formed the NeGD as an
autonomous business division within media
lab Asia for assisting The Department of
Electronics and Information Technology in
the program management of National e-
Governance Plan.
NeGP supports department of
electronic and
information technology in the following
tasks :
Facilitating implementation of Mission Mode
Projects by Line Ministries/State Government.

Providing technical assistance to Central


Ministries / State Line Departments.
Acting as Secretariat to Apex Committee
undertaking technical appraisal of all NeGP
Projects .
Providing State e-Mission teams took
Mission Mode Projects
A Mission Mode Projects is and individual project
within the National e-Governance Plan that focuses
on one aspect of Electronic Governance such as
banking, land records, commercial taxes, etc.
NeGP comprises of 31 MMPs encompassing :
11 central MMPs includes Immigration, income tax, banking
, national citizen database , etc.
13 state MMPs includes road transport, employment
exchange, land records, etc.
7 integrated MMPS includes National e-governance service
delivery gateway, e-Procurement and EDI for E-trade.
