Biographical Information
Born and died in the first century

The actual dates of her life are unknown, but she


lived during Christs life, death, and resurrection
Lived in the town of Magdala as a child
Accompanied Jesus at the beginning of his ministry
in Galilee
Patron saint of penitents and perfumers
Feast Day is July 22nd
Why she Became a Saint

It is believed that she followed Him in a group of followers that


served Jesus and his disciples
She was present when Christ died on the cross
First to know of Jesuss resurrection
She is known as the legendary example of Gods mercy and
grace
Contribution to the Church

She spread the story of her conversion to several women who


she was associated with and these women also became followers
of Jesus
She was a sinner whom Jesus saved, giving us an example of how
no person is beyond the saving grace of God
Through this example we are encouraged to turn away from sin
in our every day lives
We can also believe in Christs mercy just as St. Mary Magdalene
did
Extra Information

Mary Magdalene was a great sinner as a child


Jesus removed seven demons from her when he met her
She visited the tomb of Jesus on Easter Sunday and found that it was empty
She wept and asked a gardener where His body was
The person who she thought was a gardener was Jesus
Years after Jesuss resurrection she was put into a boat with no sails or oars
by Jews
The boat landed in southern France and she spent the remaining time of her
life in a cave
Her body was miraculously transported to the Chapel of St. Maximin to
receive the last sacraments just before she died
Connection to the Eucharist

She was present when Christ made the sacrifice for us on the
cross
This sacrifice was the completion of the Passover sacrifice and
the new thank offering
