Earliest known inhabitants settled the area around 3,000 B.C.
Anthony Henday, believed to be the first European to enter the Edmonton area in
1754
1876 Treaty 6 of the numbered treaties placed Edmonton and much of Alberta under
European rule
Actually became the town of Edmonton in 1892 population 700
In 1904 the population increased to 8,350 and it became a city
