Its a disease where they have over production of
uric acid, neurologic disability, and behavioral problems. This disease is marked by compulsive self-mutilation of head trauma or by mutilating their fingertips, cheeks, tongue, and mouth. Another side effect is mental retardation as well as involuntary muscular movements. Some more facts: This disease mostly occurs in males.
It has been found that it is hereditary and
carried on the mothers side.
Approximately 1 in 380,000 births in the United
States are affected by Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome.
