    Filtration and sieving are processes that separate solids from fluids or mixtures. Filtration uses a medium like cloth, paper, sand or screens to separate particles from liquids or gases based on size, allowing the fluid to pass through but retaining solids. Sieving specifically uses a woven mesh or screen to separate particles by size, retaining larger particles while allowing smaller ones to pass through. Both processes separate mixtures into their component parts based on differences in particle size.
