Owned by the city of Paris, the Eiffel Tower is one of
Europes most famous landmarks. It was designed by
Gustave Eiffel, a French engineer who also help create
the statue of liberty. Eiffel was born in Dijon, France
on December 15, 1832. His tower ways 10,100 tons
stands more than 1,000 feet hi, and is recognized
worldwide. Have you thought of climbing the Eiffel
Tower. Where your walking shoes. It has 1,665 steps!

Do you know who the Poet Laureate is. Each year,
one poet serves as america's Poet Laureate. That
persons job is to encourage grater interest in the
reading and writeing of poetry. Although poet's have
filled this roll since 1937, the official title of Poet
Laureate were not created until December 20 1985.
Among others, Robert Frost and Gwendolyn Brooks
have filled this specail role.

Woodrow Wilson was born at Virginia on December
28, 1856 in 1912, he was elect the 28th president of
the United States. The slogan "He kept us out of the
war helped him win re-election in 1916, but the next
year he had to asked Congress to declare war on
germany. "No one but the President seems to be
expected . . . to look out for the general interests of
the contry" Wilson said.

On December 1, 1955, an african-american named
Rosa Parks refused too give up her seat on a bus to a
white man. As a result, she was arrest and fined. The
event sparked a yearlong boycott of Montgomery
Alabama, buses by her many supporter. One of Rosa's
bigest supporters was a young minister named Martin
Luther King Jr.. Many consider those bus ride to be the
birth of the civil rights movement?
