CONCRETE STRENGTHS:
The designer will provide the concrete strength required for element. Where the
manufacturer wishes to use a higher strength concrete he must obtain prior approval from the
designer as higher strength concrete can have an adverse effect on a buildings performance
during an earthquake.
With approval from the building designer, higher strength concrete can be used:
to allow early removal from moulds.
to meet handling requirements.
to accommodate construction loads.

MOULD CLEANING AND PREPARATION:


1.The mould should be clean and free from debris and old mortars using remover scaling bars.
2.From oil or mould release agent should be applied evenly over the mould surfaces.
3.Check the joints and edges of the mould, bolts, stoppers, tie rods and side props and rubber steel
are intact and properly secured.

FIXING OF REBERS/CAST IN
ITEMS/PRESTRESSING STRANDS:
1.Check that the reber size, spacing, and
lap length are in accordance with the
drawings.
2.Rebers, cast in items, coruggated
sleeve pipes, recesses, lifting hooks,
and inserts must be correctly
positioned and properly secured.
3.Use of fabrication rig can help to
ensure the accuracy of rebers fixing
and spacing.
4.Where needed, tack welding may be
carried out to secure these items.
5.Sufficient number of spacers with the
correct sizes should be properly
placed and secured to achieve the
required concrete cover during
casting.
6.For precast pre-stressed concrete
elements such as planks, the strand
hauling should only be carried out
when the form release agent has
dried to certain degree that will not
contaminate the strand.

FINAL INSPECTION BEFORE
CASTING:
1.Check and verify that all
details comply with
drawings.
2.Check the mould fitting
conditions including
blackout detail.
3.It is good to check the
base mould level again
before casting,in
particular for site
precasting where other
concurrent site activities
may have shifted the
mould level.
