Testing Accuracy Using A

Spectro Photometer
Standard Deviation Mean
- a measure of - a central
variation among a tendency for a
set of observed set of values
values

Wherein:
X = observed values
x = mean of observed values
n = number of observed values
Accuracy
- Closeness of a measured
value to a known or standard
value

% error= standard value - experimental value x 100

Possible sources of error
1. The volume adjustor was rotated beyond or below the prescribed
measurement.
2. The micro pipettor was laid down with a filled tip causing the fluid
run back into the piston.
3. The tip has been reused .
4. Presence of air spaces at the end of the tip.
5. The second stop was not completely depressed to blow out the last
bit of fluid.
6. The liquid was sucked back into the tip.
