Foreshadowing

Definition:

be a warning or
indication of
(a future event).
“Back to the Future” Dozens of clocks are shown in
beggining.
This foreshadows Doc hanging
from the Hill Valley clock tower,
when trying to send Marty back to
the 1980s.
As Seen in LOTF ● The first is the discovery of
the conch shell, where
Piggy's reaction predicts
how important it will be in
the novel
● Jack wants to be called
Merridew, not Jack → trying
to show authority (14)
● Simon’s fainting shows his
weakness within the choir

● Simon refers to some
bushes as “candle bushes”
(22) → foreshadows the
burning of the forest later

Plot Analysis
Definition:

uses the plot diagram to ask and answer questions about the plot of
a story.
Exposition: introduces
background information; it “sets
the stage” for what’s to come

Rising Action:is the


series of events that begin
immediately after the exposition

Climax: the most intense,


exciting, or important point of
something; a culmination or
apex.
Falling Action: the
parts of a story after the climax
and before the very end.

Resolution: part of a
story's plot line in which the
problem of the story is resolved
or worked out.
Exposition: Moana is chosen
by the sea, and is given heart of
Te Fiti.

Rising action: Moana wants to


go off and adventure through the
ocean, but her parents don’t
think it’s safe.

Climax: Moana is in battle with


Te Ka
Falling action: Te Fiti is now
happy and everything is back to
being the way it is. (fish back in
sea, and no more “darkness”)

Resolution: Moana is now


Chief, and people can now travel
the sea again.
Lord Of the Flies
● Exposition would start out as the plane
crashing and all the boys gathering around to
discuss the new ‘laws’
● Rising Action, with littluns not helping. Jack
causing arguments and Piggy isn’t helping.
● Piggy is killed is the climax, but it could also
be Simon’s Death.
● Falling action includes the boys smoking out
Ralph.
● Resolution is they are saved by the naval
Officer
