2.Background and Early Years
• Born in the state of

29 1917 John was
second born of nine
children.

to Great Britain in 1938
wich inspired him to
write his senior thesis
at Harvard,which he
later published into a
novel titled ”Why
England Slept” in
1940.He graduated
from Harvard in 1940.
3.Navy life
• Entred into Navy in
1941 and stadioned in
South Pacific and in
1943 his PT boat was
sunk by Japanese
destroyer and almost
killed everyone and
John was very bad
injuried .In spite of
these ,he survived.
4.Precidency
• On January 2, 1960, Kennedy announced
his candidacy for the Democratic
presidential nomination. Though some
questioned Kennedy's youth and
experience, his charisma and eloquence
earned him numerous supporters. His
greatest obstacle to winning the
nomination may have been his religion, as
many Americans held anti-Catholic
attitudes, but his vocal support of the
separation of church and state helped to
defuse the issue. His religion also helped
him win a devoted following among many
Catholic voters.John F. Kennedy was
sworn in as the 35th president at noon on
January 20, 1961In his inaugural address
he spoke of the need for all Americans to
be active citizens, famously saying: "Ask
not what your country can do for you; ask
what you can do for your country." He
asked the nations of the world to join
together to fight what he called the
"common enemies of man: tyranny,
poverty, disease, and war itself.
5.Wife and children
• Kennedy met his future wife,
Jacqueline Lee "Jackie" Bouvier
(1929–1994), when he was a
congressman. Charles L. Bartlett, a
journalist, introduced the pair at a
dinner party. They were married a
year after he was elected senator,
on September 12, 1953.Caroline
Bouvier Kennedy was born in 1957
and is the only surviving member of
JFK's immediate family. John
Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr., nicknamed
"John-John" by the press as a child,
was born in late November 1960, 17
days after his father was elected.
John Jr., a graduate of Brown
University, died in 1999 when the
small plane he was piloting crashed
en route to Martha's Vineyard.
6.Assassination

assassinated in Dallas, Texas,
at 12:30 pm Central Standard
Time on Friday, November 22,
1963, while on a political trip
to Texas to smooth over
frictions in the Democratic
Party between liberals Ralph
Yarborough and Don
Yarborough (no relation) and
conservative John Connally.
Traveling in a presidential
motorcade through downtown
Dallas, he was shot once in
the back, the bullet exiting
via his throat, and once in the
head.
