Introduction
 The Tata Group is a multinational conglomerate
founded in 1868 by Jamshetji Tata
 Tata Group is the largest private corporate group
in India and 11th most reputable company in world
 Ratan Tata took over in 1991
 It has interests in steel, automobiles, information
technology, communication, power, tea and
hospitality.
Some facts and figure
 The Tata Group has operations in more than 85
countries across six continents and its companies
export products and services to 80 nations.
 The Tata Group comprises 114 companies and
subsidiaries in seven business sectors,27 of which are
publicly listed.
 Companies which form a major part of the group
include Tata Steel, Corus Steel, Tata Motors, Tata
Consultancy Services, Tata Technologies, Tata Tea,
Titan Industries, Tata Power, Tata Communications,
Tata Teleservices and the Taj Hotels.
Next Successor
 According to us Indira Nooyi fits best in the
position of Ratan Tata.
 And Nandan Nilekani doesn’t fit for the
successor
Why Indra Nooyi?
 Indra Nooyi has directed Pepsi co’s global
strategy for more than a decade and led its
restructuring. This kind of rich experience is
required to lead a global conglomerate like
Tata.
 She has quick decision making ability and
ability to stick to the work until it’s
accomplished.
 Her firmness and go getting attitude has won
her laurels in the company and this helped
her to build a strong foundation in the career
graph to reach the top echelons in the
organization.
 She is the only Indian woman to become the Chief Executive
Officer of the more $ 25 Billion Multinational.

 Indra Nooyi is the truly global in her thinking keeping a wide


perspective about the world and has great intellect.

 According to Business Week, since she started as CFO in 2000,


the company's annual revenues have risen 72%.

 Fortune ranked her the #1 most powerful woman in business in


2009.
Why not Nandan Nilekani
 Started his career as an engineer in
the Patni Computer System
 In 1981, along with Six other
colleagues founded Infosys
 Became CEO of Infosys in 2002
 Became Co-Chiarman in 2007
 In July,2009 he got invitation from
our Prime Minister
 In July,09 he left Infosys and became chairperson
of the Unique Identification Authority of India
 He is given the rank of a cabinet minister.
 Because of these responsibilities and work given by
our PM Dr.Manmohan Singh, it is difficult to give
up these tasks and join Tata.
 Also he is leading India in getting the identity cards
for the citizens of India and as a cabinet minister he
himself will not step down from these post.
