• Seed size is the most important determinant of germination

capacity, vegetation growth and yield of maize.
• that showed that large seeds characterized by higher
germination capacity ,vegetative growth and good yield of
maize crop than seedling obtained from small sized seeds .
• Therefore seed size is the most important physical indicator
of quality seed selection and it influences the crop
germination rate , emergency , field performance generally
,we recommended that with the criteria of other basic seed
selection large seed size is one of the criteria to select quality
seeds which can perform at field well and to get better yield
. Summery and CONCLUSION
• Fraction of seed is process commonly used by breeding and
seed production companies separation of seed in to small,
medium and large size fractions depend on a thousand kernel
weight and thus on the content of the endosperm of the
seeds which is used in the process of embryo germination
• .research showed that large seeds were characterized by
higher filed germination capacity and generally seedling had
greater weight compared to those obtained small seeds. Seed
size is an important physical indicator of seed quality that
affects vegetative growth and is frequently related to yield,
market grade factors and harvest efficiency. A wide array of
different effect of seed size has been reported for seed
germination, emergency, and related agronomic aspects in
many crop species .generally large seed has better filed
performance than small seed .
