in 2015 , Chennai got excess rain of 50cm rain in a single day and almost 80cm of rain in that whole week....also the Chennai city don't have well planned rainwater passage. varadharajapuram in Chennai does not have proper rainwater passage also the lakes around varadharajapuram was not properly maintained by PWD department (periodic maintenance). PWD did not have any control over this lakes if it about to overflow...also they don't have any plan on welfare of people residing in that area...also NHAI also constructed as 6 lane road without proper rain water drainage. which act as a check dam and makes the area deadliest floor prone area....NHAI till now did not address this issue
