4G – LTE801 Group hopping for UL Reference Signal

With group hopping enabled the base sequence for the UL demodulation
reference signal for PUSCH and PUCCH as well as the base sequence for SRS is
changed randomly on a per slot bases (0.5ms).The random pattern will change
with the underlying physical Cell ID so that each physical cell ID will give a unique
group pattern within the radio frame. This functionality impacts the air interface
between eNB and UE due to the fact that the UL DMRS base sequence is no longer
Fact Findings / static for a given cell.
The feature is preventing effects of inter-cell interference for UL RS in order to
Background improve the UL performance without configuration of shift offset and cyclic time
shift, which minimize the planning and optimization effort. As a result, UL RS base
sequence is no longer static for a given cell.
