● Born January 15th 1929 and was the middle child.


● The KIng and Williams families were born in Atlanta, rural Georgia.
● When young Martin was twelve, his grandmother, Jennie died of a heart attack.
● When she died, Martin was miserable, he was so miserable he jumped from the
second story window at their family house, allegedly attempting suicide.
● Hid father and him were born Michael King but his father changed his name, so young
Michael then also changed his name to Martin, like his father.
Most Important Accomplishments

● He became the predominant leader in the Civil Rights Movement To end racial
segregation and discrimination in America during the 1950’s and 1960’s and a leading
spokesperson for nonviolent methods of achieving social change.
● He made a very famous “I have a Dream” speech.
● He provided leadership in the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955.
