MISSION & VISION
• Cumberland County Schools is committed to empowering all students to collaborate,

• Cumberland County Schools’ mission s to provide a safe and caring learning
environment in which every student develops skills and knowledge necessary to
pursue a productive life, to be successful in a diverse and global society, and to
empower students to become lifelong learners.
• Rockfish Elementary School is committed to providing a quality education for all
students within a safe and supportive atmosphere where all feel secure, loved, and
challenged.
• All students will demonstrate grade level proficiency and will experience at least one
year of academic growth at the end of the school year.

HISTORY OF ROCKFISH ELEMENTARY

• Rockfish Elementary is one of fifty-two elementary school in the Cumberland County Schools. There are
685 students at this school with a 95% attendance average. Class sizes vary from grade level and
restrictions ranging from 18-24 kids in grades K-5. 97.5% of teachers at Rockfish are fully licensed and
22.5% have advanced degrees. This B performing school met 20 out of 20 targets during the 2016-2017
school year.
• Social work in schools celebrated its one hundredth anniversary in 2006. Social work services in schools
began independently during the 1906-1907 school year. It was put in place to meet the needs of
children. In addition, it was to necessary to improve communication between home and school. School
social work have grown significantly in numbers and services such as attendance, behavioral
management, homelessness, child abuse, and neglect.
NEEDS AND FUTURE DIRECTION

• Backpack Buddies to ensure children are eating on the weekends. Sometimes, the only meals children
have are at schools.
• Clothing Closet to assist children that do not have adequate clothing or may be lacking necessary
undergarments and/or coats
