CHICHEN ITZA

Chichen Itza is a large

pyramid with a staircase
on each of the four sides
leading upto the temple of
Ku Kulcan. The structure
is 24 meters high, plus an
additional 6 meters for the
temple. Each of the
structure’s four stair ways
contains 91 steps. When
counting the top platform
as another step, it has 365
steps, one step for each
day of the year.
CHRIST THE
REDEEMER
Christ The Redeemer is a
monumental statue of
Christ overlooking the city
of Rio-de-Janerio Brazil. It
is one of the city’s major
tourist attraction. It is
situated on top of
Corcovado Mountain. The
statue stands 39.6 meters
tall , weighs 700 tones and is
constructed of granite.
Christ is portrayed with his
arms outstretched as if
embracing the city. It was
commissioned to celebrate
the centenary of Brazil’s
independence from
Portugal.
COLOSEEUM
Coloseeum is one of the
greatest works of Roman
Architecture and engineering.
Originally capable of
accommodating around
50,000 spectators, it was used
for watching men fighting
wild animals chariot races,
hand-to-hand combat between
professional fighters. It is now
in a ruined condition due to
damage caused by
earthquakes. Even today the
Pope leads “Way of the Cross”
procession to this
amphitheater every Good
Friday.
GREAT WALL OF CHINA
Great Wall of China, is
the world’s longest
human-made structure
stretching over 6,400
kilometers. It is
constructed of earth, stone
and brick and stands as a
barrier against raids by
nomadic people from
north. After centuries of
neglect, the government
restored three sectors of
the wall as an attraction
for visitors.
MACHU PICCHU
Machu Picchu is located at
an altitude of 2,430 meters
on a mountain ridge in Peru.
The site bears unique
testimony to the Inca
Architecture and civilization.
The ruined city covers about
13 sq km of terraces built
around a central plaza and
linked by numerous
stairways. The majority of
buildings are now roofless. It
was designated a UNESCO
World Heritage Site in 1983.
PETRA
Petra is an
archaeological site in
southwest Jordan. It is
famous for its great
natural beauty and
magnificence. This site
was declared as a
UNESCO World

when it was described as
“one of the most
precious cultural
properties of man’s
cultural heritage”.
